In one of my first meetings with artist Greg Biolchini he told me that he had been trying to put together a set of pastels for his students at his various workshops. The problem as he explained it was that either students came with a set that had gaps in the color spectrum and was thus hard to impossible to even mix the colors one needed, or students came with every pastel they owned and spent half the time searching for the right color they knew was in their box somewhere.
Working with warm and cool primary and secondary colors along with a range of neutrals leaning toward the darker side of the value range (because it is easier to lighten a color than darken it) Greg came up with our aptly titled Workshop Set of 50.
