What kind of paper are you working on? I've never seen anything quite like it.
The paper is matiere Rustic, a soft, gray 100 percent rag distributed by Sennelier. It has a soft feltlike surface.
It doesn't look like it would erase very well. Is that ever an issue?
As the paper has a soft fibrous surface, I don't think it would erase very easily. I have never tried to erase pastel on any paper. I usually remove layers of pastel by hitting the surface with a chamois cloth. This is done usually in desperation when I've reach a point of complete dissatisfaction with the progress of the work. Sometimes it happens at an earlier stage when the drawing proportions are incorrect or the drawing is too academic and too ordinary, lacking verve or form.
